Excellent once you get proper human customer service

"I purchased this in May 2025. The zipper got damaged in August and I, as a long time Herschel customer, proceeded to go through the warranty process. It took six weeks of inane and farcical back and forth with AI via email and chat to get nowhere. Amongst the absurd requests, they wanted me to send the defective item to their warehouse but claimed my home was ‘outside their delivery zone’ even though they could also ‘only ship to and from the place of the original delivery’. So they could ship to my house but not collect from it. Allegedly. They requested countless videos and pictures of the item to determine the cause. Because apparently a broken zipper is not something the AI chatbot understands. The response time via email was 4-8 days between correspondence even if I replied within minutes. They claimed they are overwhelmed with claims to which I asked if they had a defective batch they had shipped out. They refused to answer simply stating they are too busy. It is clear they either pawned off defective product hoping it wouldn’t be an issue or the programming of their AI chat is extremely limited and useless. After six weeks of this, I finally returned to a city where there was a store and went in with the bag. It took less than sixty seconds for the staff to recognize the issue and proceed with a replacement. All in all, I usually stand by Herschel and a lot of that is because of their fantastic warranty process. This whole experience has left a sour taste in my my mouth. Thank goodness for their intelligent store employees who I feel sorry for for having to catch and resolve the results of the ineptitude of their AI chat bot and ridiculous warranty team."
